2012 China – Day 3 – 02.06.2012 – Tianjin

I got up without any problems around 0430. After the shower I packed my stuff, threw the network cable behind the table and left the room. Outside it was already bright and hardly anything was going on. More was already going on at the station. Numerous travellers waited in the waiting room. Since two trains should depart shortly behind each other I asked one next to me if this is already the boarding procedure. He said no, but shortly afterwards again yes, because both trains arrive at the same time. On the platform I had to wait 10 minutes until the other train left. That was a bit pointless.

2009 Egypt – Day 1 – Cairo

Sphinx und Pyramiden in Gizah, Ägypten

Actually this trip had been planned differently, but R. jumped in to briefly explore Egypt. The flight to Cairo departed around 0100 from Berlin Tempelhof airport, where we had parked the car somewhere nearby. That was of course quite a stupid time for a flight to get somewhere. The flight lasted about 4 hours and went over Eastern Europe and then always along the Nile. Although it was dark, it looked quite interesting from above with all the lights and roads. The entry procedure consisted of some fee, the delivery of a photo and something that was attached to the perso. Outside we were picked up by someone and taken to the hotel. On the drive through the whole of Cairo one saw again and again entrenched guards on the streets and at the corners.

2012 China – Day 4 – 03.06.2012 – Jinan

The AC had worked diligently and quietly during the night. I only notice it early when I open the door to the corridor, how big the difference is between inside and outside. There was almost nothing going on on the streets. I drank some cappu and walked about 30 minutes before the train should leave for the station. As always everything was covered in a loose fog, where you could see about 5km far. The fog was certainly mixed with smog, but I couldn’t tell the difference. After the absolutely senseless scanning of the luggage and the beeping of the metal detector I went into the again gigantic departure hall and sat down to the correct gate.

2009 Egypt – Day 2 – Alexandria

At some point we decided to make a detour to Alexandria. The only option is the train, which is why we started early on our way to the station. Coming from Gizah we took the bus which brought us directly to the station. In the station there was a ticket counter and somehow we could make ourselves understandable and got two tickets for the next train to Alexandria. The train waited already at the track so that we could get on after a cigarette break immediately. Sometime the train departed and went forever through Cairo and the suburbs of Cairo along the Nile delta to the north to the coast.

2009 Florida – Day 4 – Suburbs of Orlando

On that day I had to do the whole day with the conference again and could only get out in the evening. I drove a little bit through the immediate surroundings, but there was nothing interesting to see. I just admired that there were houses without fences where people just throw a few sofas on the lawn and party there. I drove around a bit in the surrounding area and looked at something like a market in one of the villages of the area. All in all everything seemed quite deserted to me, because it was probably not the peak season. Later I drove back to the hotel and ended the day to leave the country the next day.
