2009 Florida – Day 1 – Orlando

The plane went around 0930 from Frankfurt to Chicago and from there on to Orlando. Afterwards this was one of my worst flights I ever had and at the same time my first intercontinental flight. I think that I flew with American Airlines at that time. At that time there were still. Shortly afterwards I flew with Delta and United and they didn’t really give each other anything. The plane was old and the seats in the economy were extremely tight. Maybe it seemed like that to me at that time.

2009 Florida – Day 2 – Orlando

After the cleaning lady had awakened me I grabbed my things, paid somehow at that time still in cash and went outside to look for a taxi. Wrong again. Credit card makes things easier and it is standard that you can call the taxi in front of the hotel at the reception. Yes at that time I was still really inexperienced. Somehow I found a taxi or maybe I got a call because I remember that the area there seemed quite lost. The journey cost again approx. 50$. That doesn’t have to surprise at all, because the distances in the USA are much bigger than anywhere else.

2009 Florida – Day 3 – Kennedy Space Center

That day I probably had a lecture in one of those conference halls. When I wanted to get there at the beginning of the conference, I first thought it would be a room with 20 people. After all it was a room with 600 people and 2 big screens and oak wood lectern and American flag. For my first real English lecture it was a little surprise that made me a bit nervous. However, the whole thing went off without any problems. After the conference there was still time and I drove east to Kennedy Space Center.

2009 Florida – Day 4 – Suburbs of Orlando

On that day I had to do the whole day with the conference again and could only get out in the evening. I drove a little bit through the immediate surroundings, but there was nothing interesting to see. I just admired that there were houses without fences where people just throw a few sofas on the lawn and party there. I drove around a bit in the surrounding area and looked at something like a market in one of the villages of the area. All in all everything seemed quite deserted to me, because it was probably not the peak season. Later I drove back to the hotel and ended the day to leave the country the next day.
