DARWIN, AUSTRALIA: On the search for further sights around Darwin I drove to the East Point. East Point is a bit north of Darwin and is a long beach. The beach was completely empty despite high temperatures in water and air, which raised some questions why. I knew about the dangers of crocodiles but nevertheless it seemed quite strange to me. Later I met a woman who explained to me that nobody actually goes into the water there, because the danger from crocodiles and especially from nettle jellyfish (stingers) is too great. Unfortunately there is an excellent beach with best equipment but no possibility to swim, although the water has almost bath tub temperature.
Shortly after the return from Tasmania we thought about where the next vacation could take place. We looked at the world map, but there was not really any country we were interested in. In many countries there are too many negative aspects, which cannot be reconciled with our kind of vacation, i.e. to travel. South America can come later. Besides Antarctica this is the only continent I still miss. Asia is difficult to rent a car and drive.„Namibia – Intro“ weiterlesen
The night at Hotel Nadia was quite strange. Maybe that was due to the shabby equipment of the room. Somehow there were bedbugs. We drove into the center on the main road, which was called Mohammed V or something like that, as always, directly at the Hotel Royal. Next to the hotel there was a coffee where we had breakfast. We sat down, ordered and somehow waited forever. Such an Omlette and, coffee is now no witchcraft and guests were also hardly there. Finally I had to go in later to pay to speed up the whole thing. Directly opposite there is a Liquor Store. It is somehow not properly hidden, but also not directly recognizable. If someone is looking for it, it is quite directly opposite the Hotel Royal. So about.„2015 Morocco – Day 9 – Ouarzazate / Mhamid“ weiterlesen
This time we got up even earlier than usual. Overnight it was really cool in the room. Unfortunately there was no hot water and the toilet had to be flushed with a bucket. Overnight I had to suffer again attacks of bedbugs, which bit me this time clearly. That clouded this actually great hotel a little bit. The day before I had to drive the car next door into a lockable parking lot, although I insisted to leave it at the road. When we were finished there was of course nobody to be seen. We went to the locked gate and I tried to get it open somehow when a hotel hiwi arrived and opened the gate. I was waiting for him to want a dollar, but he did not. So I gave him 20 Dh for the tea from the day before and we left again towards Zagora, because we still had a good distance to Merzouga.„2015 Morocco – Day 10 – Mhamid / Merzouga“ weiterlesen
When I finished with the morning toilet the food was already served in the large lounge, which was comfortably equipped with armchairs and sofas. There was jam and for me of course Omlette Frommage. As far as I can remember this was a variant where the triangular cheese was delivered extra. Of course there was also coffee, which meant a very relaxed morning. In the room it was also quite cool and I admired again the effectiveness of the classical clay architecture. After dinner we decided to climb the dune again. So we got ready, which meant that I put a T-shirt in front of my mouth and a hooded jacket over my head. M. took a hat and swimming goggles.„2015 Morocco – Day 11 – Merzouga“ weiterlesen
I got up again around 0800. The night had become quite cold, especially in a room where there was no heating. I hadn’t really expected that. In the quite clear hotel was already quite a lot going on and the noise from inside came to that from outside still in addition. First I checked out again at the old slow Zausel at the reception and went a few meters to the left of the Royal to have the usual breakfast. Strong milky coffee fairy with an omelette. While I sat there comfortably at the street and looked around with cigarettes and coffee in the area I saw opposite a car rental, which brought me on the thought to ask nevertheless times for the prices.„2011 Morocco – Day 11 – Zagora / Mhamid“ weiterlesen
As you can see from the first picture I was on my way quite early. Above Zagora there was still fog and it was not very warm. Actually it was just before 0 degrees. The night in the hotel was not particularly great, since my room had somehow again gaps and it pulled and besides no heating was there. I had already thought about buying at least one fan heater for 10€, but that really wasn’t worth it, because most of the rooms didn’t have electricity and I had to get rid of the thing again.„2011 Morocco – Day 12 – Zagora / Merzouga“ weiterlesen
